On behalf of the entire Board of Directors and members of NCISS, we are proud to share an important milestone in our legislative advocacy efforts. This week, as part of the NCISS annual Hit the Hill event,
NCISS President Edward Ajaeb and
Board Chair Kelly Cory officially signed the cover letter accompanying the NCISS Petition and formally delivered it to Congress. The petition included the names of over
1,000 private investigators, security professionals, and industry supporters from across the United States, all united behind a common message: protect our ability to do our jobs and serve the public.
This petition is more than just a list of names—it represents the voice of an entire profession. These signatures came from professionals working in all corners of the country, demonstrating the nationwide concern over legislation that could severely restrict access to public records, limit investigative tools, and hinder our ability to serve clients and the justice system.
Since its founding in 1976, NCISS has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about proposed bills and regulatory changes in Washington that threaten our industry. The petition calls on lawmakers to preserve access to the critical information and tools that investigators and security professionals rely on every day. Without these tools, our ability to uncover facts, serve the legal process, protect the public, and uphold justice is compromised.
Highlights from Our Congressional Outreach
As part of our Hit the Hill event, NCISS members met with nearly
100 congressional offices in Washington, D.C., sharing our concerns directly with legislators and staff. The delivery of this petition reinforced those meetings with a tangible demonstration of how many people in our industry are paying attention, are engaged, and are prepared to speak up.
The impact was clear: many congressional offices appreciated receiving such a unified message from constituents and professionals on the front lines. Several asked thoughtful questions, requested follow-up information, and showed genuine interest in understanding how these legislative issues affect our daily work.
The Petition is Ongoing – Help Us Keep the Momentum
We want to thank every single person who signed and shared the petition. Your voice made a difference—but we’re not done yet.
